- The 4-Year Maintenance and Operations Levy provides:
- The fuel to operate the educational engine of our schools,
- The means to cover the total costs of educational programs of our school district,
- The means to cover the maintenance of our school buildings,
- A commitment to our children and their future,
- A commitment to our teachers and their professional development and training,
- A protection of our investment in our capital facilities.

- The Steilacoom Historical School District No. 1 receives money from the state covering approximately 80% of basic education costs.
- Current and future District-wide growth data shows nearly a significant growth rate throughout our elementary, middle, and high school populations as new families move into our district.
- The levy rate (projected $2.24/$1,000 assessed valuation) remains constant or may decrease with the district's continued rapid growth.
- This is one of Pierce County's lowest school levy rates. (see The Cost link)
- It is not a new tax. It renews the current one.
