Vote YES to Renew the District M&O Levy

  • The 4-Year Maintenance and Operations Levy provides:
    • The fuel to operate the educational engine of our schools,
    • The means to cover the total costs of educational programs of our school district,
    • The means to cover the maintenance of our school buildings,
    • A commitment to our children and their future,
    • A commitment to our teachers and their professional development and training,
    • A protection of our investment in our capital facilities.
(For more information, see FAQs, Question #5)
  • The Steilacoom Historical School District No. 1 receives money from the state covering approximately 80% of basic education costs.
  • Current and future District-wide growth data shows nearly a significant growth rate throughout our elementary, middle, and high school populations as new families move into our district.

  • The levy rate (projected $2.24/$1,000 assessed valuation) remains constant or may decrease with the district's continued rapid growth.

  • This is one of Pierce County's lowest school levy rates. (see The Cost link)

  • It is not a new tax. It renews the current one.
