The Schools
The Pioneer Middle School "main" building is a wood structure with a brick veneer and was completed in 1919.

The Pioneer Middle School campus is 3.26 acres. The original building is approx in the center and was built in 1919. Classroom and administrative wings were added in 1968. The site is inadequate in size to provide a bus loop, drop-off, or parking. Public roads are used for bus loading. Circulation is confusing and security difficult.
The three portables sit on Town of Steilacoom park property, not the school district's. The gym was added to the campus in 1951. Playfields are inadequate and hard surface recreation area is lacking.
Finishing Chloe Clark Elementary school will see the multipurpose room double in size and two classroom wings and parking added in the wooded area. This will more than triple the capacity of the school.

Picture an auxiliary gym added between the existing gym and the track at Steilacoom High School.
A new, 10 classroom, 2-story classroom wing would fit on the East side of the SHS building just inside the bus loop.
A ground-level view of where the 2nd SHS gym would be built.

The new classroom wing would go on this side of the existing building.
